Academy Ninja...they are not technically ninja but are brought to battle in emergencies.
Genin... they learn basic jutsu and go on D and C rank missions
Chunnin... often lead one genin and only go on C rank missions
Special Jonin... Usually aid the Kage and some run the Chunnin exams.(goes on C and B rank missions)
Jonin... Often lead three Genin in a four man cell. They go on B and A rank missions.(and rarely S rank missions).
Kage...Runs the village and goes on A and S rank missions.(only in emergances)
